All workshops are 1-on-1! We will match you with a Letterly coach and you will both find time to meet every week based on your schedule.

  • Workshops will run from September 9, 2024 - December 13, 2024
  • 12 45-minute private sessions with your coach to publish your work or submit to a writing contest

Letterly Author's Workshop

12 Weeks to Your Own Book!
Refund Policy: Students who withdraw before the start of the workshop will receive a full refund. Otherwise, Letterly offers refunds proportionate to the percentage of the program that the student completed. Please note that Letterly withholds 10% service fees for all refund transactions.
Let's Get You Published!
Unlock your child's creativity with the Young Author's Workshop! This Fall, your aspiring writer will turn their ideas into a polished book, guided by weekly 1-on-1 sessions with a dedicated tutor. From brainstorming to the final chapter, students can experience the joy of seeing their own story come to life—and the thrill of their very own book!

Inspired by The Journal and the thousands of articles that our students have published, your child will select from one of the following book genres:
  • Novel (up to 8,000 words)
  • Collection of Short Stories (up to 8,000 words)
  • Graphic Novel (up to 25 pages) 
  • Memoir (up to 8,000 words)

How It Works

Week 1-3

Pick Your Genre!

After getting matched with your coach, you'll brainstorm ideas for your book. Select from the folliwng genres to create a plot:

  1. Novel (up to 8,000 words)

  2. Collection of Short Stories (up to 8,000 words)

  3. Graphic Novel (up to 25 pages) 

  4. Memoir (up to 8,000 words)

Week 4-6

Exposition to Climax

Got your story diagram ready? Now, it's time to build up to the climax. Learn to incorporate sensory details and imagery, incorporate dialogue, and analyze your characters' development. As always, your caoch will guide you with any revisions as needed. 

Week 7-9

Resolution & Rewriting

Work on the resolution for your story and explore alternate endings! At the point, we will also begin editing and writing parts of your story as you engage with both your coach's and peers' feedback.

Week 10-12

Editing and Publication!

We're almost there! After you're done with your story, it's time to focus on rewriting, editing, and finally, submitting your work. After the workshop, we'll send you two copies of your book right to your doorstep!
